Qualifications

Federal Staffing Resources has several Full Time openings for Patient Appointment Clerks on Ft. Carson CO (Colorado Springs). It is 40 miles north of Pueblo, Colorado in Pueblo County. 

 

Qualifications:

  • At least 6 months of experience in a customer service related industry. Training and experience in medical office scheduling preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED 
  • Must be US Citizen
  • Excellent telephone customer service skills are required.  Must be proficient in writing and understanding English. Must be able to clearly speak English and be understood by patients and clinic staff.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency are necessary. A working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word and Excel are required. In addition, accuracy in typing and the ability to quickly learn proprietary systems is required.
  • General medical ethics and knowledge of Privacy Act (HIPAA) for patient privacy is essential
  • CAC access

 Responsibilities:

  • Make clinical appointments and coordinate appointments with other direct care facilities as required. Appointments shall be made following MTF-provided appointing criteria and comply with Military Health System (MHS) access to care standards.
  • Determines patient eligibility for services and arranges and schedules medical appointments for referred care. Validate eligibility Defense Eligibility Report System (DEERS). Proficiency is required in the use of all updated clinical scheduling software packages, such as DEERS and AHLTA
  • Contact patients to schedule, reschedule, and/or cancel appointments.
  • Must adhere to outlined timeframes for scheduling purposes.
  • Must have the ability to understand the entire functioning of the scheduling unit and be able to understand the importance of each aspect of their duties as it affects the entire operation.
  • Obtains documentation as requested by healthcare providers (test results, or documentation not yet filed in records).
  • Ensures referral results are returned to the referring provider and to the medical record within required timelines. Assists with follow up, written or verbal, as necessary.
